No Sugar for 4 Years – Tristyn Lee’s Extreme Diet

For the past four years, 22-year-old Canadian fitness influencer Tristyn Lee has followed an extremely strict diet that has kept him sugar-free in order to develop a strong and defined physique.

A video that Lee, who has a sizable TikTok following, posted showcasing his muscular physique and his four-year journey without sugar received over 3 million views. For example, the video “I haven’t eaten sugar in four years… “Should I give in and have a donut?” he asked, outlining his reasons for adhering to this stringent diet.

“No sugar for four years straight? You heard me right, but why?”, Lee said. “For the past four years of my life I haven’t cheated on my diet once. Not once. Was it necessary? No. Do I recommend it to everyone? Probably not.

“But for many people who are similar to myself, the quote-unquote balanced diet with the occasional pop tart or sweet treat that seems so unbelievably appealing often leads me down the route of adding more and more processed foods and excess calories into my diet.”

Lee found out that eliminating sugar entirely has been easier to handle than attempting to consume it in moderation. He will be able to eliminate processed foods and lessen his anxiety about calorie counting.

Lee’s approach, referred to as the “elimination diet,” is frequently employed by medical professionals for people with food allergies or intolerances. Lee finds that sticking to a rigorous diet is easier than some experts who advise that these diets should only be followed for a short period of time.

“With no cookies in the cupboard, all temptations are out of sight and out of mind,” Lee confirms. He has also decided to eliminate “cheat days,” which are periods of time when a diet permits eating more freely, and even having some junk food.

“No cheat meals, no cheat days, and consistently eating nutrient-dense foods you’ll likely notice improvements in energy, mood, and find yourself falling off track far less than if you’re jumping in and out of your diet,” he added.

There has been a mixed reaction from his fans to Lee’s strategy. While some find his all-or-nothing approach inspiring and admirable, others believe it to be excessive.

When Lee first started bodybuilding at the age of 15, he followed a strict ketogenic diet, which included only 5% carbs, 25% protein, and 70% fats. No hard proof was discovered, although some conjecturing that his remarkable muscular growth at such low body fat levels might be the result of the use of anabolics.
