Weekly Photography Assignment: Flowers

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 285: Flowers

This week, we want to you take flower photographs! Flowers make wonderful nature photography subjects. They can be used for macro photography, or incoperated into wider wildlife or landscape images. They can add a pop of colour to a scene, and offer incredible details, patterns and shapes for more abstract images too! They can also be found quite easily – whether you look to your garden or local park for flowers, or head out into your local woodland or wild area to look for wildflowers, flowers are a great subject to practice your skills on. And whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting flower images are endless. We can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Wildlife Portraits – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Mandy Bell: ‘So lucky to have come across a kestrels nest!’

This lovely portrait is highly engaging! We love the interesting setting for the subject, and the careful framing to create a complimentary composition. The tones and patterns in the surround also greatly enhance the subject matter, and draw our eye across the frame. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
