As such, the meiping – literally ‘plum vase’ and originally used to hold plum blossom – was thought relatively modern and given a £60-80 estimate in the January 20 sale at Ramsay Cornish (22% buyer’s premium) in Edinburgh. Photographs were available to potential buyers and it triggered wide interest, eventually selling online to a bidder in the UK for £11,000.
