August 2023 | Beijing Food, Drink, & Activity Roundup
Welcome to this month’s roundup of the eats, drinks, activities, and events I did in Beijing in August 2023. My monthly recaps give you a slice of expat life in Beijing, covering everything from historical hutong cafes, traditional Beijing sites, and delicious Chinese cuisines, to downtown rooftop bars, international restaurants, expat activities, and more. This month’s list is a little shorter than previous ones as I had two trips outside of Beijing, first to Jiangxi and then to Chongqing and Guizhou. I also celebrated 8 years in China this month! 1901 Cafe Beibingyang: Beijing’s Iconic Orange Soda Ichibangai First Avenue in Maizidian: Japanese Restaurants GALORE! It’s also by this funky 7/11. Must try: Vin Vino, a Japanese tapas fusion bar with an extensive Wine Cabinet. There was an Inner Mongolia Youth Choir Concert performing and it was lovely to see them in this beautiful venue. There are a host of other performances, exhibitions, and concerts held here as well. Beijing CBD Beer Fest So I missed this event in Beijing when I was traveling, but all my friends went and had a great time, so I wanted to mention it! If you visit Beijing or are moving here, it’s always a good idea to check the Beijinger to see what events and festivals are going on. I’ve worked with many restaurants, hotels, bars, event groups, and more to create Instagram reels, WeChat channel videos, WeChat moment posts, and more!
