Roosevelt Roberts at UFC on ESPN 29 Ignacio Bahamondes (12-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) produced one of the great kick-related highlights in UFC history when he shut down Roosevelt Roberts (10-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) in their lightweight bout. After getting the better of the striking for more than two rounds, Bahamondes uncorked the 10th spinning wheel kick knockout to ever take place inside the octagon. He found the perfect range, let it go and the strike landed clean across Roberts’ chin. He went down in a heap, and the fight was stopped instantly with just five seconds left on the clock. The finishing sequence began with a hard overhand right from Ducote. Upon impact, Taylor, visibly stunned, froze while she remained on her feet. As she looked down, Taylor was met by a hellacious, fully-wound-up head kick from Ducote that floored her to the canvas – and like that, Ducote captured the vacant Invicta strawweight title. Leonardo Damiani at DWCS 37 In the opening fight on Season 5 of Dana White’s Contender Series, A.J. Fletcher (9-0) put Leonardo Damiani (10-3-1) on his highlight reel to earn a UFC contract. Just minutes into the first round, Fletcher landed a flying knee as his opponent’s back was close to the fence. Damiani had no room to retreat, and the knee landed flush on the chin, resulting in a spectacular moment. WHAT. A. FINISH. ???? AJ Fletcher with an INSANE flying knee to kick off our first bout! The finish came at 4:55 of Round 3. For the majority of the 15 minutes, Bahamondes picked apart Roberts on the feet. Round 3, in particular, leaned in Bahamondes’ favor as the lengthy Chilean lightweight peppered Roberts’ body with brutal punches. Roberts gingerly shot for takedowns, but to no avail. A frequently thrown kick by Bahamondes was the spinning back kick to the body, so when he went high with a wheel kick, it caught Roberts off guard.
